High Fiber Diets for Your Health
In the health world there is a lot of talk about a diet high in fiber for your health and as well there should be. Fiber is an extremely important part of anyone’s diet, but for some reason nobody likes to talk about it. In the past 10 years there has been an emphasis on adding fiber to foods like cereal and breads, and this is a positive step forward toward getting enough fiber and good health, but we have to give fiber more attention that that. The general public avoids the discussion of fiber but if they only knew how many diseases come from the lack of having high fiber for your health and diet, they might pay more attention. Colon cancer, diverticulitis, IBS or irritable bowel syndrome, stomach problems and most importantly, your colon cannot absorb all the good nutrients that you eat because it is clogged up. Fiber is what used to be called ‘roughage’ back in the day. What I mean by that is that maybe 40 to 50 years ago or back in your Grandmothers day. She knew the importance of keeping your’ pipes cleaned out’ and she was also helped by the fact that there was not all this processed and sugar laden ‘food’ in her pantry. Today we have to be especially vigilant because high fiber in your health and diets is still very important. Simply put, fiber filled foods are the foods that have some ‘chew’ and ‘bite’ to them. The fibers in these foods act like mini scrub brushes going through your digestion system. Whole fruits with or with out the skin on them, whole grains breads and cereals, seeds and nuts, and vegetables that are eaten fresh like lettuce, broccoli, peas, zucchini, any of the natural foods are high in fiber. Even meat contains fiber in its composition and is very good in your diet. The problem in our society is that everybody is in a hurry and so we stop and pick up whatever we can find to feed our bodies with? Does McDonalds, pastries, donuts, hot dogs, rolls, biscuits, pizzas, chips, cookies, candy, etc. sound familiar to you? I hope not because a diet consisting of these foods has very little fiber to keep your digestion tract clean. Your health depends on a high fiber diet so get some of these high fiber foods into your diet everyday. To cleanse your colon, it is good to eat a diet high in fiber to help food digest and pass thoroughly through your body.
