Obesity is a condition when the there is fat tissue under an individual's skin which measures more than 30kg. This can occur in all areas of the body and can have devastating health effects. Someone who is seen as overweight or obese can have many health problems and a shorter life expectancy. A person who is obese is at risk for diseases such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, different types of cancers along with osteoarthritis. People who have weight problems can also have trouble breathing while sleeping which can also lead to snoring or sleep apnea. A person who is obese becomes this way by having a poor diet mainly of carbohydrates and calories and lack of exercise. Avoid Obesity with Diet and ExerciseOne way to avoid obesity is to maintain a healthy diet and get lots of exercise. If more people did this then they would greatly decrease their risk of becoming overweight. Obesity is a very important topic in American society. One third of the children here in the United States have an obesity problem. Recent reports also show that Americans spend billions of dollars each year on dieting programs and on books, foods and drugs related to diets. In addition to this billion dollar problem, Americans spend $45 billion dollars each year treating diseases linked to obesity such as diabetes and heart disease. Businesses altogether lose about $20 billion in loss of productivity due to an absence of workers being treated for obesity related illnesses. Fortunately, there is hope. One way to overcome obesity is to have a healthier diet and get good exercise. There are plenty of good exercise programs that are efficient and have more results better than any diet plan.
