Running For Fat Burning and Weight Loss

Running For Fat Burning and Weight Loss

To burn fat and lose weight successfully, running is one of the best exercises a person can do.

However, as with any other exercise, results will not be realized overnight. Running regularly and watching their diet will be necessary for a person to attain their fat burning and weight loss goals.

In the course of a week, a person will need to run for a total of about four hours and cover about twenty miles in order to burn from 2000 to 2500 calories during that week. It is necessary to work up to this gradually, though, so as not to cause injury. The runner will need to unfold a plan that will enable him or her to run twenty miles each week at an easy pace.

Runners should go for long runs at a slow pace. It will take at least 45 minutes of running to use the body's stored sugar, or glycogen, and reach the point where their body will enter the fat-burning zone and actually begin to use its stored fats to provide energy.

After building to a point where the runner has reached the twenty mile distance base and has been running it consistently for a time, he or she should inject some quicker paced runs into their regimen. During one of their easy runs, they could insert three or four sprints alternated with slower running or walking sessions.

This would increase the number of calories their body burns during the run and also the length of time their body continues to burn calories after the run is over.

The main thing that makes running for fat burning and weight loss a success is to do it regularly. Runners should run from three to five times a week and do it every week. If it becomes too much of a grind, they can take away some of the boredom by making some changes.

They might run a different course or run on a different type of surface. They might also find a running partner or switch to a different one. Minor changes like these every so often can keep runners motivated and make their running time more pleasant.

When a person is running to burn fat and lose weight, they need to also consider their diet. Writing down everything they eat can show them where to cut back, therefore, making it easier to lose weight and stay in shape.
