Swine Influenza (swine flu) is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza virus that regularly causes outbreaks of influenza in pigs. If a worker comes in contact with a contaminated pig, and thus has contact with other humans, the swine flu could possibly spread. Transmission of swine influenza virus from pigs to humans is not common. Eating pork does not pose a risk of infection. It is a respiratory infection.

The 2009 flu outbreak in humans that has been dubbed, swine flu, is another new strain of the swine influenza. It causes normal symptoms of the flu like coughing, headache and fever. Have you seen the people in Mexico with their blue masks? These masks are slightly helpful at blocking large droplets if someone sneezes. You have to have a specialty mask to actually filter the virus. Wash your hands often and keep 3 to 40 feet away from a known infected person.

So are you paranoid about catching a virus like the swine flu? The chances are very minimal. In fact, your mind can be eased when you take this survey about the swine flu. Voice your opinion and tell how you think it will affect the US. That should make you feel better.
